General Information about this course:
People often think that History only prepares people for teaching or working in a museum! In fact, a qualification in History is valuable in a range of well paid careers like law and accountancy.
This course counts towards the English Baccalaureate Certificate.
What will you study as part of this course?
Warfare through the ages - from the Middle Ages to the present.
The Home front - life in Britain during the two World Wars.
Conflict in Ireland.
How is the course assessed?
Each topic is worth 25% of the grade. The first three topics have short exams and the final topic is assessed by coursework done in class.
The exams are spread through the course with some opportunities to re-sit to improve grade.
What qualifications will I achieve?
History GCSE is a well respected qualification accepted by all colleges and employers.
What career, further education pathway can I follow after completing this qualification?
Skills developed in this subject will enable students to follow careers in Law, Journalism, the Civil Service, Tourism, Personnel Management and many other areas. History keeps many doors open for future choices.
