Principal's Welcome

At Unity City Academy our learning environment is highly participative and aspirational with an appropriate balance and breadth of qualifications. Every student has the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to lead positive and fulfilling lives appropriate to his or her talents, aptitudes and interests. We believe that given the right opportunities all our learners can do extraordinary things with their lives.

Students at Unity City Academy go from strength to strength in their academic and personal achievements. For the past 4 years we have gained national recognition as one of the top 5% most improved schools and academies in the country. Examination results have risen this year to 88% 5A*-C (32% higher than Government targets and 4% higher than last year). 100% of students gained qualifications necessary to prepare them for further education, apprenticeships or the world of work.

We have a dedicated well qualified and enthusiastic team of staff who strive to provide our young people with high quality learning and teaching experiences in an inspirational learning environment. We celebrate the success of our 2010/11 students and look forward to further improvements in 2011/12 and beyond.

At UCA we believe that “Every Child Matters”. Ofsted recgonised the Academy as “a place where students have good personalised care, support and opportunity”. We continue to build on this and work in partnership with parents, carers and multi agencies to raise standards and provide a safe, secure learning environment.  We have implemented personalised curriculum programmes and rigorous systems to ensure we monitor the progress of all students and implement strategies to ensure students maximise their potential. We aim to develop the personal and leadership skills of our students and are proud to have young leaders in all age groups in; sports, student council, peer mentors, prefects and literacy leaders.

We are confident we can build on our recent successes and we look forward to our continued partnership with parents, carers and the closer community as we aim to prepare our young people to be leading citizens of tomorrow.

We are delighted to welcome all students to Unity City Academy and look forward to both parents and students  during the forthcoming year.
