I feel extremely proud and privileged to be the Principal of Unity City Academy at an exciting time in its development. Examination results continued to rise this year to 68% 5A*-C, (which is 22% higher than government targets and a 19% improvement on last year).
We have a dedicated, well qualified and enthusiastic team of staff who strive to provide our young people with high quality learning and teaching experiences in an inspirational learning environment. We celebrate the success of our 2008/09 students and look forward to further improvements in 2009/10 and beyond.
Over the past 3 years UCA’s success rates have significantly improved against all national targets of progress and we will continue to work hard to ensure this excellent trend continues in future years.
At UCA we believe that “Every Child Matters”. Ofsted recognised the Academy as a place where students have good personalised care, support and opportunity. We continue to build on this and work in partnership with parents, carers and the multi agencies to raise standards and provide a safe, secure learning environment. We have implemented personalised curriculum and rigorous systems to ensure we monitor the progress of all students and implement strategies to ensure students reach their potential.
We believe that given the right opportunities all our learners can do extraordinary things with their lives. At UCA we will create an environment which is highly participative and aspirational with an appropriate balance and breadth of qualifications where every student has the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to lead positive and fulfilling lives appropriate to his or her talents, aptitudes and interests.
The challenge for us is to prepare our students to be adaptable to change, entrepreneurial and flexible in their approach to lifelong learning with the skills necessary to be ambitious. Innovation and confidence in our students’ abilities at UCA has been a fundamental driver in helping us untap their potential and raise standards for the last 3 years.
We are confident we can build on our recent successes and we look forward to our continued partnership with parents, carers and the closer community.
